Last week we announced that we joined forces with Health EDventure to add health education for kids and teens to our line-up.
As the school year draws to an end, we are excited to celebrate a great year and plan for the next year of Health EDventure programs. This week we celebrate the South Dakota Road Trip finishing up.
Lots of our members are finishing up the South Dakota Road Trip. It takes students on a virtual tour of South Dakota. Throughout the program students make “stops” at large, small and historically important towns and while “visiting” each town students discuss town history, state history and a health habit. While “traveling” students also practice map building and creative writing.
One of our teachers, Roxann Neeman, had this to say about her experience with the Road Trip:
I have many students who “thank me” after I have finished teaching about a town. They (during Jan.-April) complete a South Dakota ABC Book. Many at the end of the book have an author’s page. This year I had a lot of students write that their favorite subject is Social Studies and I believe that is because of the South Dakota Road Trip. Keep up the excellent work and we (hopefully) look forward to working with you again next year!
We are excited to be able to help teachers like Roxann make students excited about their state and health. Get more information about the program on the Health EDventure website and download a sample town from the South Dakota Road Trip to see what it is all about.
