The school year is quickly coming to an end and students have finished filling their Healthy KidZ Club badges. The Healthy KidZ Club (HKC) is an opportunity for K-3 grade students to practice healthy habits while participating in a club atmosphere in the classroom.
The Healthy KidZ Club teacher/leader uses the HKC Calendar as an outline for the activities. Each month (September-April) students complete one health-related challenge to earn a sticker to place on their large badge (pin).
Here are a few quotes from current Healthy KidZ Club teacher/leaders:
I loved the materials that were age appropriate and how easy it was to use them in my lesson planning. I loved the incentives provided that kept the kids motivated to do the activities. The website games and the calendar kept the students involved and were also great classroom activities. I loved using this program! Please keep the great ideas and activities coming. The kids really looked forward to what new activity each month would provide. And, the incentives were a lot of fun. – Ann Bartscher, Hanson School
Keep up the good work! As the year is drawing to a close…I realize how healthy my students became! Many students had met every goal…and most that did not meet each goal attained 7 out of the 8 challenges. – Pam Keppen, Maxwell Colony School in Menno District
Each month (September-May) also includes weekly cross-curricular activities that reinforce the monthly theme. Monthly themes are based on health content areas and include physical activity, nutrition, personal health, community environmental health, mental health, injury prevention/safety, and family life.
We love that we are truly improving the health of students with this program. Get more information about the program on the Health EDventure website and download a sample unit of the Healthy Kidz Club to see what it includes.
